my router is coming soon and i can place in next to my modem and plug it in with the 2-3M cat5e ethernet cable it comes with or I can put the router on top of a cabinet quite high using a 10M Cat6 ethernet cable which should be best? On top of the cabinet away from electronics, using a 10M wont slow it down will it, thanks for time!!

only a bad quality/damaged cable or runs longer than 100M will slow ethernet down. 10m is nothing.

If you know that one of the two sites at which you could locate the router is electrically noisy then it would be prudent to make use of the other one. As l*lion has explained, a 10m Cat6 patch cable will be no problem whatsoever.
