I'm sure there was a hack on Vista to get HD working, but that's a very distant memory now.

I've been using MCE since November 2006 roughly around the time that the Beta version of Vista was available and then quickly moved to W7 when the Beta was released.

It's been known for a long time that MCE will eventually be retired which is a shame. So I've been looking at alternatives and will probably settle on Mediaportal TV Server along with Kodi installed on Amazon Fire TV. Where I keep full PC's I have the choice of MP or Kodi. The advantage of this is just my server will do the recordings and every other PC or Android device will be able to schedule recordings, watch recordings and live TV. The only slight down side is series record is not quite so good/easy.

Not sure what you mean by a startup res of 1920X1080 .There are a lot of different skins you can use. If you need a set up guide try this https://www.avforums.com/threads/mediaportal-setup-guide.1602323/

What i meen Ronski my normal desktop resolution is 1024*768 for web browsing and stuff but when i use the TV tuner software i need it change the resolution to 1920*1080 (HD) automatically and when i finish using the program it go's back to 1024*768.

My eyes are not as good as they use to be  ;)

Well lets say i very impressed with Mediaportal i have ditched PCTV TVCenter its full of bugs.

Lots of people have asked for a facility to change resolution but it's never happened, there was a plugin but it's vanished AFAICS.

And if it wasn't for all the crashing and lockups when trying to run the configuration utility it would be very good...

Does anyone know how to set the TV Schedule/Channels etc so it shows the real Channel Numbers and not just the order it collected them in  :-X Having BBC One HD on channel 77 is not a lot of help.

Thats ok Tony i thought you could do this within the settings, but you can do the same using  12noon display Changer, you can set this up on the Icon for MediaPortal and as soon as you double click the icon it changes the display to what you set it to and once you end the program it goes back to the default.

I am also seeing that to Tony BBC1 HD shiuld be 101 but the channel list is showing it as 66.

Tony if you untick select channels by index (non-US) that seems to get the channels numbers back in the correct order they should be in.

Yes that worked thanks  :)

I don't actually need to change resolution, I run at 2560 x 1600 all the time on a 30" monitor.  It's the size of the MP window itself I would like to change at startup as it's way too big for me but it's not a problem, just an inconvenience to have to do it manually.

Glad you've got it working NS and are pleased with it - I hadn't noticed the updates to this thread.

PS. When you shift to W10 it should have much better scaling (W8.1 does too), so no need to change resolution just change the DPI scaling. My eye sight is also going, I now wear glasses most of the time for reading/work :-(

Yes Ronski this software will become the default media center on Win10 if from what i am seeing on this old Vista can go between different programs while Media portal is streaming live tv no pauses no stutter though i have set the timeshift buffer to seperate HD drive, it's a well coded peice of software, and the option to use the Graphic Card 650GTX or CPU for HD is great for me.

I have been loath to try it. Remind me, please, is it the 10UX Pack I need to preview it safely? Where's the best source?
