I dont think your question is being deliberately ignored, its probably more likely down to the fact that the Plusnet TV service is new and so we cant give you a definite answer.

I dont have one of these routers, but know that the ping monitor is no problem.

According to this guide for another  ISP, then it does support Multicast, but I dont know if the settings would be the same for YouView.

I have the same Billion 8800NL which I use with: http://www.mydslwebstats.co.uk/
Which may also suit your purposes.

the question is the 8800nl capable of using the multicast system?

The answer is I think yes as I see the appropriate things to configure under the advanced settings in the GUI but I am not 100% sure.

After a bit more research my answer is post on the 8800nl support forums, the multicast section on the gui is a bit advanced, no simple igmp snooping on/off button.

I accidently found it whilst trying to fix my own issues today.

Login to the GUI
Goto configuration
Goto LAN

Now you should see a box that says igmp snooping, tick it and apply.
