G.INP or TalkTalk?
« on: April 23, 2015, 10:54:49 PM »

Just checked my ThinkBroadband line monitor and am seeing significant latency variation compared to previous graphs. I have updated my HG612 with the latest firmware - firmware version A2pv6C038m.d24j - and am still seeing the same  increase in latency.

Current ping graph -

"Normal" ping graph -

So does this look like G.INP on my ECI cabinet, or something to do with my ISP TalkTalk?

You have to look at the green (minimum) latency which is still below 20ms, so its not G.inp [issue 2] related.

Thanks for the reply, I was leaning towards TalkTalk since the latest firmware made no difference, but I'm fairly ignorant about G.INP.  :hmm:

yw :)

With the main green still being below 20ms, and there being no red (packet loss), I wouldn't be too concerned.  The increase of yellow can sometimes be seen if a router is prioritising other traffic over ICMP.  Your average (blue) is still quite good and only fractionally busier than before.   Possibly the ISP gateway is busy, but not so busy that its dropping packets.   If you start seeing red at the top of the graph and the blue starts increasing then is the time to get concerned.

Does throughput tail off during 5pm-12am at all,? the yellow spiking is known as jitter not good if you are a online gamer or use VoIP type apps
I for one wouldn't be happy with a ping monitor like that, but it does look to be ISP network related as it increases from 4pm  onwards till 2am the next day, (peak time ) So it's likely due to the utilisation levels, TT would appear to be running some of their links  hot,

@phil2008 are you using the tt super router??

try going to http://your.router.i.p.address/html/advance.html#network_security and un-checking the "Enable ICMP flood protection" checkbox.

I found it made a difference to my ping monitor

Both of those TBB links return a "Page Not Found" error message.  :-\

You can't just copy and paste the image location when you are viewing your own profile!

You've got to use one of the links under the graph and then copy the code to share it. The best format to use to post on here is: Small Graph (500x219 px) - BBCode (for forums; not yet supported on thinkbroadband forums).

The snapshot graph is the quick way to share today's graph.
