There is one trick that I have recommended before now and that is to disconnect the modem from the incoming line last thing at night. Power off the modem, then disconnect the cable. The next day only reconnect the modem to the line when the broadband service is required. (This should only be performed once, I'm not suggesting that it should be done every night!) By giving the port on the DSLAMs line-card "time to relax" it may clear some of the "peculiarities" currently present.

I know that N*Star has used the technique to clear what looked to be a ongoing oscillation in the SNR.

Thanks, I would try this but I run a number of cloud backups overnight. If I can schedule it in sometime, I'll give it a go...

Ah, I see a conflict of interest.  :)

OK, I powered down the modem at 23:15 and powered on again just after 06:00. The only difference now is (very) slightly higher attainables and a little more interleaving, but not enough to change latency perceptibly.

Looks like I'll just have to play the waiting game...

14 days after the "exchange fault" it is starting to recover. US interleaving came off this morning, which has knocked about 8ms off latency and my US sync is back to what it was before. Hopefully DS will recover over the next few days, too.

Line resynced this morning and I'm now back on fastpath. It appears to have taken just short of 6 weeks of having a stable line for this to finally happen.

Not sure whether it will stay this way though - I'm averaging around 30 ES/hr so far and it's evenings when the line gets a bit worse...

Oh . . .  :(

We can only wait and watch. I expect N*Star will be taking an interest in how things develop for your circuit.

Seems OK so far. ES reached 1200 a couple of days ago but no resyncs. My US/DS sync has pretty much constantly been greater than attainable, though...
