Hello again

Since I last posted my router seems to have held a constant

DSL Status:   Up
      DSL Modulation Mode:   GDMT
      DSL Path Mode:   INTERLEAVED
      Downstream Rate:   1120 Kbps
      Upstream Rate:   448 Kbps
      Downstream Margin:   11 db
      Upstream Margin:   20 db
      Downstream Line Attenuation:   49
      Upstream Line Attenuation:   30
      Downstream Transmit Power:   0
      Upstream Transmit Power:   0

My download spped still hasn't gone above  500kbps  however

I re-booted my router earlier today and it's now

 DSL Status:   Up
      DSL Modulation Mode:   GDMT
      DSL Path Mode:   INTERLEAVED
      Downstream Rate:   2784 Kbps
      Upstream Rate:   448 Kbps
      Downstream Margin:   10 db
      Upstream Margin:   21 db
      Downstream Line Attenuation:   51
      Upstream Line Attenuation:   30
      Downstream Transmit Power:   0
      Upstream Transmit Power:   0

BT speed test results

IP profile for your line is - 500 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  2784 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 436 kbps

Do you reckon something is wrong at BT's end? My sync speed seems ok now and has been since Saturday, just that the download speed doesn't want to increase.

Thanks again for your help

Ben

If your present connection speed holds up, then your IP profile should rise to 2000 within a couple of days. If it doesn't rise after 5 days (sorry, but it can take that long) then you may have a stuck profile, and you'll need to talk to your ISP to get it unstuck.

Hello again

Well it looks like I'm back to square one again. Logged pc on for work this morning and

DSL Status:   Up
      DSL Modulation Mode:   GDMT
      DSL Path Mode:   INTERLEAVED
      Downstream Rate:   576 Kbps
      Upstream Rate:   448 Kbps
      Downstream Margin:   13 db
      Upstream Margin:   19 db
      Downstream Line Attenuation:   48
      Upstream Line Attenuation:   30
      Downstream Transmit Power:   0
      Upstream Transmit Power:   0

Funnily enough last night shortly after posting my last entry my download speed went up to 1 meg which was quite pleasing, not for long however!

Cheers for all the help

Ben

Hi ben, your line is knackered. Get your ISP to raise an intermittent fault and request for an E-Side and D-Side swap.

Have now contacted my ISP again they recon that removing interleaving may help.
Haven't seen much improvement so far.
This morning I could download at 1.5 meg which was good. This evening my connection dropped 4 times in a row & I am now back to

DSL Status:   Up
      DSL Modulation Mode:   GDMT
      DSL Path Mode:   FAST
      Downstream Rate:   192 Kbps
      Upstream Rate:   448 Kbps
      Downstream Margin:   15 db
      Upstream Margin:   19 db
      Downstream Line Attenuation:   47
      Upstream Line Attenuation:   30
      Downstream Transmit Power:   0
      Upstream Transmit Power:   0

There has to be some kind of major problem with this line as it's been fine & stable for about 2 years now until the past 3 weeks.
Going to ring up the ISP tomorrow & see what they say

Thanks for all your help on this, I hope I can get it sorted.

Azzaka is right - there's an intermittent fault on the line. Back to the ISP, and make them understand that the problem is intermittent.

Removing interleaving will improve latency but as you have noticed the line stability is lost. As roseway has stated 'make them understand'.

Hello again

Looks like my ISP has re-graded my package now to a fixed 2mb speed line. This is good for me as it was about all my line could cope with at max anyway. There still seems to be a problem with my line though.
I've been monitoring it with routerstats for the past 3 days and at 17:50 every night I loose the connection, the router re-trains back to normal  2272 Kbps  then it looses it again and so on for 1 hour continually. The noise graph shows some massively high peaks.  Before this was knackering my profile so after this I was left with a very low connection. My ISP are still chasing up BT on this as there's obviously some kind of line problem somewhere.
Thanks to everyone who replied to my posts for the help...just glad that I have a useable connection again.
Cheers
Ben
