But according to this the tag doesnt seem to be supported with SMF 2 :/

you should be able to achieve it with a custom bbcode mod.

hmmm.  Now I read it again, it says in the manual its prefixed with post_

Ok Ive now put an anchor in place

what do I do to get the full url?   take that from the post no?  I presume I have to do that manually?

Thanks for the suggestion. 
Ive now added a list of the anchors with clickable links so that the urls are easier to copy.

Ive also deleted any of the 'test urls' as they now serve no purpose and dont lead anywhere.
