1.00(AAKL.10)C0_20151008 here, although you're using a different model device to me. Do your logs work?

@Weaver, there's no actual performance degradation on my line, it's just that inbound ICMP appears to be de-prioritised.

The graph I posted was using firmware V100AAKL11C0.

Now changed to firmware 1.00(AAKL.10)C0_20150923 I'll set another graph running for that and post the result tomorrow.

Log working fine with both the above firmware.
I'm sure you've enabled the items to log in >maintenance > Log setting.  -- just checking.

Note
Wireshark shows pings replys from the internet to my PC to have Plusnets highest QoS priority "Titanium" (DSCP Mark 40). I assume that priority is assigned by Plusnet and applied to all ICMP traffic passing through their network.

Yeah, enabled all the log options.

I might revert to your firmware at some point, suspect all ours does is remove a menu or two and pre-config the TR069 stuff anyway.

Got a TP-Link VR900 that will probably be swapped in over the weekend anyhow.

Do the spikes show if you disable Wi-Fi on your VMG8924?

The symptoms sound very similar to the issue that the Billion 8800NL has (BCM-based router).

firmware 1.00(AAKL.10)C0_20150923

Much the same as the previous post which was FW V100AAKL11C0.

Only difference is I've now been DLM'd with interleaving applied. :(

@Bob
If it's any help the yellow grass on your graph is no where near a bad as talktalk's super router (HG635)

 :o :o
I don't see it as a problem although other people may.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but I'm interested to know what this looks like?

Having just set up a VMG8924, I'm keen to know whether there's anything that can be done to mitigate these maximum latency spikes:

Is that what others are seeing with the VMG8934?

Ive brought this up several times over the past few years.   One thing I have noticed is that gateway makes a difference.   Its definitely worse on some gateways than others, because there are occasions when its perfectly normal.    Ive never got to the bottom of the random 2 hrly spike either. :(

As I mentioned, it does sound similar to the 8800NL (same chipset?)

This is a sample graph:

The only way of 'curing' it was to disable Wi-Fi.

@npr, does the logging work with the firmware you're using? It's blank and doesn't get populated on my device.

Realised all I had to do was configure the attached options. I can see the logging now ::)
