I am using LINUX but how come the Linux version doesnt work?

The Linux version does work. I use Linux myself, and do all the development on a Linux machine. But that's not to say that there isn't a bug in this function, which only reveals itself in certain combinations of circumstances.

Is it alright to continue to use the windows version on a Linux OS ??

Yes, it's my experience that Windows programs written using Lazarus (the develoment system I use) work perfectly in Linux using Wine. It shouldn't be necessary, but if you're happy to do it that way then I'm happy too.
