In XP you could edit it in system properties but I don't think this can be done in Vista.
If you look in XP, under System Properties > Advanced > [Startup and Recovery] Settings can you edit the options there or not? You might not be able to if it is using the Vista boot loader.
Text from XP System Properties > Advanced > [Startup and Recovery] Settings:
;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
So no that does not look like an option.
I did have the writeup saved at one time, but thought, "I'm never going to need it" so got rid of it, unfortunately I can't remember where I got it from.
At the moment, the BCDEDIT looks a little complicated, but I will give it a try shortly.

I have tried running BCDEDIT from a comand prompt but no joy I'm afraid, it just does not recognise BCDEDIT
