U2 bitloading but not registering in hlog
« on: February 25, 2015, 07:53:05 PM »

have been facinated by this U2 band that has come about since CAT5e and SSFP MK3 where installed and can see it in the bitloading but the hlog does not indicate it's present just wondering why this would be the case.

Perhaps it's because SNR at those tones is less than 10.
10 seems to be the cut-off point.

I imagine that Hlog data for those tones is also showing as worse than -96 dBm/Hz in the raw stats. i.e not actually a valid value.

The hlog data is showing as -96.2500 so i wonder if the this U2 band ->
US: (7,32) (871,1205) (1972,2148) is actually being used by the modem  :-\

Could you zip & post or email me a Plink log?

Something doesn't look quite right there as I can see you do actually have some bitloading in the U2 band.

Assuming the modem is actually reporting the Hlog data correctly, it is somewhat unusual to see any bitloading with Hlog values worse than around -73dBm/Hz or so (certainly for DS bitloading).

Maybe US operates slightly differently than DS in that respect?

Certainly there are a couple of factors that would look different for US:

- UPBO means that the chosen transmit power alters more dynamically, and SNRM values can't easily be compared between different lines
- Something (perhaps within UPBO, perhaps elsewhere) makes the bit-loading allocation for US favour the highest frequencies as much as possible.

In the latter case, my bit loading for U2 is considerably higher than U1 (6-7 bits vs 2-3 bits), with a 100m line. For my old 350m line, the bit loading in U1 was only slightly lower than U2.

Indeed would have been good to try out a different HG612 the OR engineer was going to relpace it but was unable to as the original was unlocked but thats my fault for forgetting to unplug the lan 2 cable  :-[.

and in two minds here anyway whether to go for another HG612 or 8800NL  :-\
