If you have to ask, you would not understand  ;).

Hmm.. :-\

What? You too  :'( ;)?

As a real enthusiast, I love getting updates and testing them, especially weeks before the official release. Especially MSoft ones which seem to fix more things than mentioned in the release notes.

Cheers

No not me, I haven't used Windows for years. I was just gently suggesting that your comment might seem a little, er.., abrupt?

Not really. The sentence with a smiley I would consider 'short'. 'Abrupt' implies rudeness. Also, I do not do verbosity.

Anyway, my comments are not OS-specific  ;D. My LAN has three PCs permanently connected - all three multi-boot XP, Vista and have at least one linux distro  8).

When I don't understand things I ask,and usually I get a helpful  reply.  :)

I think the answer to your question is that, if you've been installing the incremental updates as they've become available, then you've already got a large chunk of SP1. How important or urgent the remainder is, I can't say. Hopefully someone else will come along, who's able to fill this in.

I notice that some new build PCs already have SP1 installed too.

Vista SP1 can now be found on MS Download Centre.

Useful if you don't have Vista installed atm or may update multiple machines.

Although you may want to read the recommendations from M$ before downloading, this is just a part of it:

Quote

Microsoft strongly recommends using Windows Update to download and install Windows Vista SP1 on single PCs:

The download size from Windows Update of Windows Vista SP1 for x86 is 65 MB (compared to 450 MB from the Microsoft Download Center).

The download size from Windows Update of Windows Vista SP1 for x64 is 125 MB (compared to 745 MB from the Microsoft Download Center).

X86 I "assume" is for the 32 bit systems, because my PC's are 32 bit and show up as X86 in variouse places.

SP1 is already be on your new PC.

The set-up file in a folder on the Application and Support disk, and appears to be exactly the same one that is available from the above link provided by soms.

Thanks Kitz.

I did spot it on the disc, although I did think it had already been pre-installed.

Would you, or do you recommend "Auto Updates" ?
