samknows boxes
« on: February 12, 2015, 02:26:44 PM »

does anybody know how to get one? I've signed up repeatedly over the years and never heard a peep. at one point they said they were going to release a firmware image that could be flashed onto a WRT box or similar. That never seemed to happen and they never answered my emails about it.

I understand that they try to balance the numbers on different ISPs, and different account styles - so perhaps you are in a popular grouping.

I got included at first attempt, over 4 years ago. I recently got an upgraded whitebox from them that monitors 5GHz wifi too.

Hi

I don't think you can unless your chosen to be included in the testing.

We have had one for many many years.

If anyone would like a screenshot, I'll put one up

Many thanks

I applied a while ago once, I did get a response inviting me to participate but after that I never heard back.

I've signed up on 3 different connections with 5 different ISPs over the years. They never answer.

Hi burakkucat

Yes, it gives at a glance the information. I chose 1 year so you can see.

There is no drill down or access to the stats, but it is important to understand it is not for fault tracing, it's usage is to compare ISP, speed etc between the European community.

Also, the stats are only collected when the broadband connection is below a certain level of usage from the users, so as not to slow anything down for the user.

I do like to try to do a little to help where I can

Many thanks

John

I'll add my screenshot - shows the clear night time congestion on my TalkTalk exchange at the moment. Only been on the panel for around 3 weeks.

If necessary - these graphs are great ways to show TalkTalk they have or haven't fixed the issue when they claim they have.

I plugged the new whitebox in just before we finally got FTTC working. Here's some snapshots...

Thank you, all, for posting your graphs. I have now learnt a little more.  ;)

There is one slight draw-back -- but not, I presume, to those of us who inhabit this forum -- and that is the need to accommodate yet another piece of equipment and its concomitant power supply. (I can imagine the Senior Management's reaction when discovering the latest addition!  ::)  )

Luckily, I'm still in the "testing phase". Senior management are putting up with the clutter right now, and I haven't said anything about when the testing phase will end  8)

Same here. Lots of cable ties and blu-tack keeps things tidy here  8)

Any idea how long it takes to get a reply from them after registering your interest?

Also does anyone know if they are still accepting new users?

Thanks :)
