Test Equipment
« on: February 10, 2015, 07:48:02 PM »

It is well known that b*cat prowls around a certain on-line auction site, looking for anything interesting. This evening the following items were noticed --

Level Measuring Set 35B & Combined 820 Hz Oscillator
BT Tester 240A (Noise Measuring Set and Impulse Counter)
JDSU HST-3000
BT Hawk
BT Tester 301C (Mole)
BT Tester No 436A/UEO/1 (Network Element Alarm/Error Response Tester)

Wow !! £102 for a JDSU !!

Edit - not being a user of e-Bay I've just delved a bit deeper and realise that this is just a 'bid' at £102. Can you let us know what it actually sells for please, Mr Cat ??  :)

I'd also be interested in knowing what it goes for.  - currently at £217

Well, this kitteh is curious about the 35B.

In all my years on transmission duties, I don't remember seeing any device with a fixed output of 820Hz. 800, yes, but 820? Seems somewhat arbitrary.

The HST-3000 is currently at £255-00 after eight bids and the auction still has three more days to run.

I see there is another one up for auction, starting price £350-00, with currently no offers and the auction ends in a little over 90 minutes time.

4C when I saw that Level Measuring Set, I thought of you. ;)  It is interesting that you mention the 820 Hz oscillator is apparently an arbitrary frequency, for when I first saw it my thought was "that's strange". There were two bids and it was sold for £23-66 . . . but not to you, I presume?

No - I've more than enough audio test gear now. When it will get used in anger I don't know - once you retire there's no time left to do the things you used to do in your 'spare' time.  ???

Checking upon the status of the JDSU HST-3000 auction I see "This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.:-\
