TP-Link TD-W9980 and IPV6
« on: February 02, 2015, 07:05:29 PM »

Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to disable IPV6 of the W9980 ADSL router ?
It keeps sending multicast messages, I would like to stop it doing that.
Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

I agree with your IPv6 LAN screen, I have the same, however it doesn't prevent the routeur from sending multicast trames on the network. Indeed it sounds that the IPV6 neighbour discovery protocol is still enabled. I tried to stop this traffic by using the IPV6 firewall but it doesn't accept addresses of type FF01::/16 FF02::/16. So I think that a proper and functional "no IPV6" option is missing for this router. Note that fiddling with "IPv6 LAN Settings" parameters you can put an IPv6 address which will appear in the IPv6 LAN screen. It will be impossible to remove it apart of restoring factory settings
Has anyone got any idea to stop IPv6 ?
