DSLStats and RPi Access Violation?
« on: January 13, 2015, 03:47:35 PM »

One for Eric, earlier I noticed my MDWS uploads had stopped from the RPi.

Logged in on the VNC and found a message "Access Violation". Checked the log and saw "Timeout while collecting HLog data".

Went and deleted the .dslstats folder, rebooted and then updated to 5.3.2. Made no difference, so I've turned off Hlog data for now and is is back to normal? Any ideas why this is happening and it happened all of a sudden? The modem gives the data with the xdslcmd info –Hlog command manually?

That's a bit of a puzzle at the moment, Jamie. I'll look into it.

Maybe something on my local network, perhaps telnet taking too long to respond?

I'm not sure at present. The code for collecting HLog is identical to the code for collecting QLN, and that seems to work OK. I suppose it could be a marginal timing situation which could be fixed by increasing the timeout time. That could explain why it's only just started to happen. When I can hook up my RPi I'll do some tests.

Maybe not quite related but my PI dslstats has stopped a few times now with "floating point error exception" - I think that is what it said.  I assume odd funnies in the data received.

Is there an option which would avoid dslstats hanging while waiting for an OK to be pressed?  Maybe a carry on regardless option?

I'll put that on the list.

It could be a timing issue on my LAN side more than anything Eric, I will have to try hooking the Pi up by Ethernet and see if that makes any difference.

Just installed the Billion 8800nl today.

And I'm getting lots of errors with the collection of the stats?

Timeouts for collecting the following:
-Vendor data
-Hlog
-QLN
-pbParams
-Firmware version

All the above caused access violations?

Any ideas if I've done something wrong?

Are you still using WiFi to connect to the RPi? These issues are the result of delays somewhere in communicating with the modem. The delay could be in DSLstats of course, or it could be somewhere in the network.

Still using the WiFi, I'll try it wired and the morning and see if it makes a difference :)
