, the lower figure being ~91% of the higher, does not seem to relate to the ADSL2+ 88.2% "rule". So once more lighten my darkness I beseech you; what is the higher figure?

The Max figure is the modem's estimate of the highest achievable connection speed in the current conditions. The Bearer figure is the actual connection speed at present.

The 88.2% rule refers to something different - the IP profile is 88.2% of the current connection speed. The IP profile is the highest possible throughput speed.

Thanks!  :)The decaying brain cells (pea pod) could not think of the correct terms. Actually what purpose does the router's estimate serve, how is it calculated?

I'm not sure that it serves much purpose at all, apart from giving another view of the state of your connection and how much spare margin it has. We don't really know exactly how it's calculated (and this probably varies between different manufacturers), but it will be related to the SNR margin and the difference between the current value and 6dB (I think).

My target margin is 3 dB, so can the estimated rate fit in to your idea?
