Where can I get a BT 101a cover?
« on: January 05, 2015, 12:19:00 PM »

Hi

Some kind person has backed their car into my house wall and damaged the BT 101a cover on my incoming line beyond viable repair! Fortunately, this is the only damage (to my property, anyway - I hope it hurt their car more!) and the connections are still sound.

My telephone/broadband is via Sky, supplied through BT copper. So it's a hassle to get a replacement organised. They will probably want to charge me a callout fee. It's a simple enough replacement provided I can get hold of the correct part.

So my question is - can anyone tell me where I can get hold of one of these covers? Any help much appreciated.

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

This firm http://tatra.co.uk/products/telecomunications/cable-entry-covers/

possibly wouldn't be interested in supplying a single item to an individual, but you never know...   :-\

Otherwise, maybe see an Openreach van and chat up the engineer...

Having said that -

As it's part of Openreach's infrastructure, and it was not damaged by you, I can't see why you should be charged if you report it in the normal way to your phone service provider.

OK - hope you get it fixed.

If all else fails, Openreach do accept reports of damage to their plant, as detailed here.

Note, though, that they state -

Quote
We want to know immediately if you think that any part of our network (outside the boundary of your property) has the potential to be a danger to the general public, if you notice that it has been damaged, or to report unsafe Openreach worksites. We'd like you to call us on the Damage Reporting Number,
  my bold

Seems like a grey area there; it's obviously fixed to your property, but presumably borders the public highway too.   ???
