Large increase in ES - Is it because it's christmas?
« on: December 16, 2014, 11:09:17 PM »

Hi all,

You can see my graphs for the past two days.

Yesterday: http://cl.ly/Z0CS
Today: http://cl.ly/Z0BW

My normal ES count is between 2-8 ES per hour, but you can see from these graphs that I'm going much higher than that. Would I probably be correct in assuming it's because it's that wonderful time of year? Only started a few days ago and I was having massive packet loss which was what made me look in the first place.

Seems to be going in a pattern.

What is your SNR margin?

Currently 6.4dB down and 6.5dB up. According to the graphs it's staying between 6.4 and 6.7dB

Two things happen christmas time.

Christmas lights, and central heating.  Both can but not necessarily increase problems for DSL, there is also less sunlight so night time radio interference may also possibly affect you.

Since your SNRm is staying between the normal parameters and the total Err Secs per day is below 1440, then at least the DLM wont be bothered.

Thanks, just seems strange that the line has been stable all month since I resynched on purpose, and then the past few days it's sky rocketing.

The only thing I'm aware of is one house with loads of decorations up, but they put those up at the start of the month and it didn't affect my line then.

Not sure if it would be interference as the ES starts to worsen around early afternoon every day and it's not really dark then. They are also bad around 5-6am but again, no idea what could cause it as everyone in this house and the adjacent houses are usually in bed.

We've has the heating on since 9 and that doesn't appear to be causing a problem.

Guess I'll just have to sit it out and hope they go away?
