How to render Blu-ray for YouTube
« on: December 06, 2014, 06:48:57 PM »

Hi,

Just to start I'm not planning to burn films or give them to other people or whatever. I have the films on blu-ray disk and I'm wanting to just take 1 or 2 small clips from films I like then put them on YouTube. i ahve already done this for some but I dont know if it's true blu-ray qaulity I'm uploading or just good HD. How would I upload a true blu-ray quality clip to YouTube without losing the quality. I used MakeMKV to get the blu-ray film on the disk onto my PC its in a MKV format then I put that file in Handbrake then I put the conainer to a MP4 (two options MP4 or MKV) then I open it in Sony Vegas get the 2-3 minute clip I want and I chnaged the render options to MP4 1080p HD video qaulity all the way up and just upploaded it, is this right? Before I tried putting it to AVCHD or AVC it looked good but had no sound.

no, youtube has very explicit settings that you must use, otherwise they'll re-encode it and wreck it. Look on their help pages for the settings they tell you to use.
