The HG612 will only provide stats via the LAN2 port.. and its why even those who dont run a smoothwall have to use 2 network cables. (link

1) For traffic coming from the Internet (LAN1) to your smoothwall.
2) For linestats on your LAN side (LAN2) so that needs to be attached to your network switch.

I can (some times !) use DSLstats on Lan1 or Lan 2  and I can put the modem WAN or LAN address in DSLstats and I can get data (sometimes).

I thought that was with the laptop plugged direct into modem and not via your network switch, however I am confused at what's connected to which device on the LAN and wan.... and if you've ever had full internet (not just sync) at the same time.

To get linestats on the LAN side of you switch  you need 2 cables.     There is a way to do it with one cable I think, but it iinvolves configuring a new interface....and could be further complicated because of your static ips and I've no idea how that would work with the firewall. 

I'm a bit out of my depth because of the non standard configuration.

I would let the smoothwall handle the multiple public ips personally (full firewall control mod).
