Dual-band high-throughput

I think I will stick with my Huawei HG622.

  The lower spec 8800NL is very good, excellent adsl/vdsl with a broadcom chipset and works with dslstats, in fact it is boring --everything just works!.   It is a very safe choice if it meets your needs.  The 8800AXL looks like a higher spec version of the same base model so unless they have messed up it should be even better.

But why dont you guys do what I did?

Clearly you like the asus as a router hence using it.

Buy the much cheaper 8800nl.
Configure it as a modem only.
Use an ac66 or ac68 or ac87 with it, and you also wont lose any lan ports as the 8800nl can be access for both gui and stats using a secondary lan subnet on the wan port (which I am doing).

sell the crappy dsl-ac6X

got one today. initial impressions - fantastic. 12ms ping, previously 17ms with HG612. 80000/20000. (seems to have disabled DLM that lowered me to 67mbit on the HG612)



so, who wants to buy an unlocked HG612?

Please explain what you mean by :

(seems to have disabled DLM that lowered me to 67mbit on the HG612)

I am most interested in what you did to convince DLM to give back 80/20 on your line.

Its probably not connected, but I didn't have the latest firmware (was running v.28) on my 612 when G.Inp was switched on and with that the maximum I could get was 67/20 even though the attainable rate was much higher and the modem had connected at 74/20 before G.Inp was turned on. Since updating to the firmware from August 2014 (v.30 at the top of this forum) I am up to 77.5/20

Interesting! I'm on G.INP now with my HG612 and I seem to be fixed at 66999/20000 too even though my snr is hovering around 8dB. Was a similar or slightly lower sync before G.INP was enabled but at 6dB

I did nothing, I just plugged it in and it connected at 80/20. Previously the HG612 was at 67xxx/19999, as DLM kicked in 2 weeks ago for reasons unknown. Before that the Huawei always connected at 79999 or near enough. I dont know the stats on this yet, going to try DSLstats in 8800NL mode.

This router is very fast, 11ms pings, sites load instantly. So far so good. The web interface is the most detailed I've ever seen on a home router. But
this is my first Billion so maybe they are all like this. Looking forward to trying UMTS/LTE fallback.

This could be significant. I had the older firmware too and the attainable was 95mbit but sync @ 67mbit. I suspect older HG612 fw doesn't like G.Inp..
