in terms of Wifi perf, I got 75/18 on my Note 3 over n, which is better than the HH4, but on the AC to my macbook air, seems more unstable. only 70.9/17 average and drops to 50.
not tested range yet.

not impressed with AC, seems to drop to nothing then come back.

Does the BiPAC 8800AXL built in VDSL modem perform better than the ECI and Huawei modems? And what chipset is it, Broadcom?

I believe it's broadcom, yes.

the speed increases I wonder may also possibly be related to higher power output been enabled at the same since g.inp seems to have very good capability of managing errors.

It certainly supports G.INP as it works fine on mine. The documentation says it supports vectoring, but as no one has it outside of the test labs I can't be 100% sure that it works

the wifi on it is worrying. for some reason it always stops sending data after a few seconds. hoping this will be corrected in future (or maybe it just doesnt like macbook 802.11ac)

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4243099227

should be 75...

I have recently sold my R7000 (used it with ECI /r modem) if I got the BiPAC 8800AXL do you think I would see an improvment in speed or anything else? i know wirelessly obviously not but wireless is not important for me currently using bt home hub 5 type b, (which is terrible, constant reboots and AC speed is complete ****)

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the LEDs on this router via a telnet command (there is nothing in the config pages you can access via www) as I have this in a location where it would be much better if it wasn't lit up at night?

Hi

Black masking tape would do it, it's not going to detract too much from the Billion un-inspired white plastic box  ;D

I would try logging in to 'Telnet' and typing '?' to see if there is such a command, you may find it has the 'ledctl' command, so typing ledctl off may do what you require.  However on my Billion 7800DXL, it turns off the LEDs but leaves Wi-Fi ones on  :'(

Thanks Phil

ledctl off turns off the power and internet LED on and leaves the ethernet/wifi ones on

ledctl on turns all the LED lights on

Any ideas as to what will put it back to default?

Hi

No idea, seems to only support off and on.  The next reboot will put it back to normal.

Has this router been withdrawn/discontinued? It's vanished from Amazon (they stopped taking pre-orders) and everywhere else seems to have zero stock.

I managed to pick up an Amazon Warehouse version (open box) when it briefly appeared but unfortunately I'm guessing it was a faulty return that got restocked as it was a bricked unit - wouldn't boot and couldn't access it even in recovery mode.

that would be a short self life, more likely its the usual under stocking.

it is on amazon but listed as out of stock.
