NGA Circuit ID Syntax

Hi guys,

I'm hoping you can help me clarify something...  I have a number of FTTC circuits prefixed by "BBEU" and "OGEA".  BT are working on "NGA Network Elements" in a number of exchanges, and I can't work out whether or not this will impact both circuit types?

BBEU has always meant 21CN WBC to me!

I would concur with your thoughts too.

BBE prefix have always been associated with copper broadband products. Whereas OGEA/ONEA are associated with fibre broadband.

My conclusions are only drawn from working on these two products daily, and linking the two codes to the two differing products.

Do you know what BT are referring to by "NGA10 Network Element"?

This diagram seems to suggest VDSL FTTC (BBEU) circuits do use the NGA network.



I get the impression that NGA is a generalisation for FTTC infrastructure.

Hmmm, a little piece of my tiny mind has just remembered a few months back, when on an FTTC repair job and the modem/router would attain synch, but would not get a PPP session going.

All the network/port/mapping etc was correct, so I was asked by our DCoE to ring the ISP to see it their 'build' matched Openreach's 'build' on their records ??
I was then given a C-tag number, an S-tag number ....... and also a BBEU number ............. so you are right in your assumptions.

I've never personally heard of a NGA10 Network Eelement, sorry. :)

b*cat is curious about Tirion's (throughput) speed test result. Would I be correct in assuming that two (or more) VDSL2 circuits have been bonded together?

(It's interesting that the US is a little bit higher than the DS.  :hmm:  )

Sorry not heard of NGA10 Network Element either.

Can confirm that NGA relates to the Fibre Products though (also see diagram)

NGA is the BT Openreach part between the cab and exchange.
NGN would be the 21CN backhaul.
