changes happening on eci cabs?
« on: October 16, 2014, 03:38:22 AM »

Just got back from my cab, I noticed my dsl go down and back up at full 80mbit sync speed, but no power cuts, had a look at the cab and is a couple of openreach guys there with the vdsl cab open.

They said they carrying out upgrades but wouldnt be more specific.

will leave this connected for a bit, just to see how ES are, but I have lost US snrm with this change.

U1 signal attenuation increased so looks like cause is increased US power cutback.

Rebooted the modem as I had 17k crc errors in last hour or so, 500 ES.

I am seeing lots of swings on my US snrm, 12db to 8db to 10db and so on.

Could it be upgrades to ECI hardware in the cabinets that will support vectoring?

Have never seen an engineer working at our fibre cabinet before, I would see the engineers working at the copper cabinet 3 times a week. so whatever there doing to your fibre cab they must be swaping out one of those ECI cards  :-\

not sure exactly what happened.

I noticed about a week ago that the my line was syncing with a 6.5db noise margin. rather than the regular 6db.

This morning I got a re-sync, I'm now on a 3db profile with slightly more interleaving, INP is up from 3 to 3.5. speed is up from 54-55 to 60mbps.

If vectoring is in the pipline I don't think it's happened yet.

I wasn't aware BT OR ran a profile with a target of 3dB SNRM, interesting.

also after I manually resynced earlier the extra US power cutback was reversed, odd.

and sorry guys I got no idea what they were doing, I checked the vendor command to see if they swapped ECI with hauwei but its still ECI.

also my US dips are back and some of them look quite big taking me down to almost 6db margin, I wont be able to call it in as a fault tho as is barely any errors on my US.  Looks like a new fault in the making tho :(

Perhaps it was just the installation of a new line-card into the ECI Hi-FOCuS M41 MSAN to increase the available capacity?  :-\

Must of been a mistake or utter fluke, maybe My modem was re-synced while another was locally, DLM kicked in this morning and put me back up to 6db. the interleave is all over the place.
