Interesting.  Thanks for the link.

Although as I started reading my immediate thought was well youve got to purchase a landline anyhow to run the link over...  so any savings would purely be not having to take up a call package.   Since most SPs do an incentive if you purchase landline and broadband together and through in a basic service such as free weekend calls..  Im pretty certain the savings wont be that great. :(

Zen charge £4.50 extra per month for the privilege of not having a phone package.

I'm happy to pay that, as I prefer to keep my phone line with BT.   But it is maybe indicative of the fact that ISP's pricing does factor in the profits from phone calls and, deprived of these profits from phones, they'll simply charge more for 'naked' data in order to balance their books.    ???
