I guess that isn't too surprising, but I hadn't heard of Shodan before, so that's something new to play with.

Me neither - I just had a quick peek at their website and saw this on their blog which I found quite interesting.

OK so Telecom Italia had the most, but add the UK ISPs together and you can see the UK fairs worse than any other country, and surprisingly the proportion of Zen's representation in comparison to the size of its userbase.


Tiscali-UK will likely be TT Business users as IP ranges for Tiscali-UK are still registered with RIPE but used by TT.

I note users of Shodan can further break down the data to see which routers are most affected - eg with Telecom Italia, these were the DG834G

I have a NAS and just used GRC to probe 32764 port and it comes back as stealth!

I did see that on the TV too and I had a look at there web site and it's on the 'to-do list'  ;)

I have a set of 6 fixed IP's From  Eclipse  isp.BT ADSL2(G992.3) line>HG612 as a Modem, Bridge, WAN Not Bound to LAN1 or 2 + Also have FTTP (G.984) No One isp Fixed IP >Dual WAN pfSense (Hardware Firewall and routing).> Two WAN's, Ethernet LAN, DMZ LAN, Zyxel GS1100-24 Switch.

My NAS is behind a smoothwall and switched off most of the time anyway. Plus its a HP microserver rather than a 'NAS unit'
