No problem Kitz, just presumed you'd be dealing direct with someone there. I've just sent their support an email explaining the problem.

nps..   I found their support pretty helpful and they rang back with more info and kept me updated like they said they would.  I did have the name of the guy I spoke to but I must have written it down on the back of an envelope type of thing that later got binned.   Just checked my [closed] ticket and I cant see his name anywhere :/

I've had a reply from ZyXel asking me to update the firmware to version V100AAKL6b1, which I'll do tonight.

got my zyxel today and thanks to kitz for finding a cheap retailer for it.

But dont know when will try it out as been busy lately.  Also given my snrm has dropped below 6db with the line weakening every passing week I am hesitant to drop the sync incase it syncs lower.

Hello,

Got my ZyXel today... well a Eircom F1000 thanks to dmcdonnell, and it's £50 well spent :)

Not had a real chance to play, but one thing for sure is the through put especially upstream is a great improvement.
Was only of late getting 14 -15 Mbs using the HG612 and HH4 now getting..

Will post some stats later and check on the errors if any.

Thanks.

 :)

I have switched from the zyxel to the 8800nl now, and I think the nl is using an older version of the 39 dsl driver.

Some observations.

The last day or so on the zyxel I see on the mydslwebstats page I had loads of dips in my US snrm, they were not causing errors due to my high snrm, but they look worrying, at this time I am not sure if I think its the zyxel or the line.  I do remember once when looking at the GUI seeing the US attainable lose a few mbit then recover again a minute after.  But only just notice the graph which has many of the dips.

So far on the 8800nl I have noticed the DS snrm is higher (which probably accounts for the lower sync speed that matches the hg612) as well as the US snrm been higher as well with so far no dips. Error rates no judgement yet as the zyxel from about 8pm to about midday had low error rates as well, but recent afternoons on my connection have been rocky.

It has been nearly 2 days since installing the zyxel, and all seems good.

A snap shot of my white box stats clearly shows an increase in upload

Now the question is should I be worried about these errors?   ???

Thanks

Mine resynced to fast path this morning to the fastest speeds I've had in a long time.

Quote
This is to let you know that a resync/restart occurred on your line on 31-10-2014 10:50 (+/- 1 minute).

Reason: 0 Loss of Service or DLM

Current Downstream Sync Rate is now 48820kbps
Current Upstream Sync Rate is now 6781kbps

Mine usually does change to faSt path at some point through the winter.

@twictch  Your ES errors are running about 600/day which, if you don't want interleaving, may be heading topside for being OK. It is probably fine unless your line is prone to bad days that may be much worse than 600/hour.  i would keep an eye on that error rate and consider action if you see ES values ever reaching ~1000/day.   See e.g http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=14598.msg273181#msg273181 for highest fast path errors seen on mydslwebstats over a 10 day period.

Ronski you approaching 600, but I think you will be ok as long as evening ES rate doesnt increase, fingers crossed.

I am still on fastpath, but ES has increased from 876 per day to 1019 per day.

That seems to coincide with a small, but distinct, stepped reduction in DS SNRM from 23rd October (maybe another user has now been connected, thus increasing crosstalk?).

FWIW, I also always see slightly increased sync speeds during cold winter months - especially January & February.

Try this:

ssh -v admin@192.168.1.1

Enter only the first eight characters of your admin password.

I did not believe it when I read your post but you are completely correct. I set my password to PasswordIsNotMyPassword but was able to login using ssh with just Password

Amazing. I do not see it reported anywhere. It raises questions about how zyxel handle passwords but you know this already. Does it apply to all zyxels or just this one. All I suspect.

Thank you.
