New superfast checker for FTTC
« on: July 29, 2014, 09:07:46 AM »

Below is a partial 'Cut & Paste' taken from our 'Loop' communique's. Definitely a step in right direction if you ask me ??

"We’re massively improving the information on fibre availability for end customers. Our 'where and when' postcode checker on the Superfast website [1] will soon give info right down to cabinet level for enabled areas. This will help break the cycle of end users being told their exchange is enabled only to find they can’t order the service from our CPs because their cabinet isn’t enabled. The refreshed Superfast website is nearly ready to go, so keep an eye out for more info in The Loop [2] over the coming days.
Finally, in September we’re launching a brand new post code checker service to give customers crucial info on network incidents impacting service. This will include information on major network faults like cable breakdowns, broadband/fibre faults (Roland & IRAMS) or generic incidents such as extreme weather. This service will also be hosted on the Expect Openreach website.
These are real examples of how we’re putting the customer first and being much more open and transparent about fibre availability and service performance".

[2] Only visible to Openreach employees, but if I can, I shall inform when it goes 'Live'.

That's very encouraging. Thanks for letting us know.

(I'm sure I responded already, but I must have forgotten to press "Post"). :-[

Gentlefolk,

It's certainly good news that improvements are planned but, sadly, we should probably note that long rural cables off a single DP need to be addressed just as the accuracy of both the phone number database and the address database. If they are not attended to we will still have many examples of "Garbage in = Garbage out".

E.g. 1 two numbers in the same house which I've called THSE FT03

E.g. 2 two adjacent properties in GU5 9QN

Contd.  Then we have the quandary of THSE CG02 VDSL Maximum estimates being almost identical to the current ADSL sync speed of 11.85 Mbps made worse by all ISPs, except BT Retail, only offering the B Range figures.

Finally I very much doubt that BT will disclose why they have now condemned further VDSL services to the remaining lines on the notorious long 20 pr cable ex DP 1040 in Coneyhurst Lane.

Kind regards,

The openreach when & where PCP Data Information will NOT show up because OPenreach didn't want to tell you. Full of crap site by openreach. This site was mile better http://fttc-check.alc.im but the information of the cabinet had been removed now because openreach told the site owner to take it down!

Sounds like Openreach are purposely withholding information because they have no intention to do certain cabinets and don't want people to know.

They seem to only update Cabs positioned near grassy knolls, or in aircraft hangars revamped to look like the surface of the moon ?? Something's not right ??

Oxford county council has a full 7 digit BDUK post code checker all fully available to the world.
It will tell you whether you are in BDUK or whether you are excluded
http://public.tableausoftware.com/views/OxonCoverage/Viewcoverageinyourarea?:showVizHome=no#1
If you are included it will tell you the approx time frame for your upgrade.
This link further tells you the cabinets due in the next 6 months
http://public.tableausoftware.com/views/Cabinetmap/CabinetMap?:showVizHome=no#2

The online searchable/interactive map is pretty well exactly the same as the static intervention map pdf drawn to cabinet level showing who was going to get done - and who was not.
This was published in August 2013.

Those of us (yes, like me) who will get nothing in respect of superfast BB this year, next year or indeed maybe ever unless "additional funding" is made available over and above existing BDUK fund allocations from either BT, HMG or the local county/district council have been quite well aware of this since last August.

Yes it is,  I crossed referenced to this thread  in the other

I see Openreach has a new 'Beta in testing' Cabinet postcode checker.

http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

For me it says we are an 'Enabled area' so that's a good start, just need a new cabinet putting in our Village.

So it looks like the new superfast checker which Blacksheep told us was telling us about on this post is now live.
