Developer / Electronics Engineer
« on: July 25, 2014, 10:28:37 AM »

Hi,

I've been pondering about joining this site for a while as the other wells seem to be drying up in terms of content... So here I am :)

I'm in the UK, have years of experience with electronics, both "pre-digital" era and "digital" era so I'm well covered on that front. I'm an embedded and systems developer by trade, so thought that this would be a great place to share the love.

See you out there!

Ade

Hi Ade .......... so long as you use 'Layman's terms' in your explanations (for the numpties like me  ;) ;D), then your input is going to be massively welcome.

And "Hello, good evening and welcome" from me too.

Just to give your age away, which TV personality used to always say that at the start of his shows?

The prize for the first correct answer is free lifetime access to the HG612 Modem Stats download site.

Welcome Ade:)  Were you an inhabitant of the (now deceased) PsiDOC site?  :-\

With fangs like yours, b*cat senses it would be wise to keep his tail "well tucked in"!  :-X

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

Indeed, I've done my circuit around the various embedded device sites :D DOn't worry about the use of layman terms... I run business of my own and I usually do well at "not speaking star-trek".. Then again, when I do see a juicy tech natter on the go, I do dive in :D

@Bald_Eagle1: I wasn't brought up here, so I probably won't remember anyway :D I was 5000+ miles due south! Then again, the name rings a bell.

Now for a quiet evening of Gin & Tonic and pure geekery with my toys :D

Credibility, if ever I heard, for an electronics engineer.   :)

Personally I'll always regret following a career in software, after graduating in Electronics.  Can't remember  why, but I did.  :(

Welcome, any roads.    ;D

I can totally understand why! The electronics industry has become a "throw away" one :( Most things are irreparable these days as they're all bundled into one chip rather than spread out eloquently over a PCB.

When I got my YouView box i got all excited and opened it up only to find that it was literally an ENTIRE system on chip :-/ The only thing that I still get involved in is either design or repair of power supplies. Luckily, power units aren't something you can cram into a chip :D lol
