Higher upstream rate with 0-6 tones disabled
« on: October 04, 2014, 02:57:21 PM »

I've noticed about 30 kbps higher upstream rate if I disable 0-6 tones which are not used whenever. My SNR margin is  nearer to target SNR margin. I often see upstream SNR margin 6.1 dB when I disable these tones. If I have 0-6 tones enabled, I have often SNR margin for upstream 6.8 dB immediately after the synchronization establishment.

Has someone similar observations?

Best regards

I've noticed the same effect occurs when I disable only 6th tone (without disabling 0-5). It is strange, 6th tone is always not bit-loaded, however disabling it on the router slightly raises synchronization rate. Similar effect is noticable also on the other circuit.
