HG612 GUI
« on: July 05, 2014, 01:39:44 AM »

for some reason I am unable to login to the HG612 GUI using 192.168.1.1 have the unlocked GUI version, the last time this happened BT updated the firmware dslstats and HG612 modem stats is still working.

It worked a few weeks ago but it's like it's gone

Could someone who has the newer firmware with the GUI enable version check this is the case.

it works fine for me.

I am using the howlingwolf as below.

bcm96368MVWG_fs_kernel_HG612V100R001C01B030SP06_unlockedgui-nobtagent

I suggest no bt agent, you dont want to be updated auto without consent in my opinion, better to update when you are ready not when BT wants.

my modem uptime is currently 127 days.

It looks like another firmware update is going though the BT Pipe  :o

Very interesting. I have been waiting since the beginning of the year for another update to appear.  :)

It is possibly time for someone to knock on the door at the Wolf's lair . . .  ;)

That seemed to have happened to me last week (or at least that's when the GUI didn't work when I tried it).

I don't use the HG612's own GUI very much these days, so I hadn't noticed until I tried to login.

I had been 'tinkering', so I assumed I must have reverted to BT's original updated firmware version & forgotten about it.

As I assumed I had caused the GUI to disappear, I reinstalled Wolfy's unlocked GUI version without first bothering to check the version number via telnet.

If you haven't yet reinstalled the GUI version, could you check the version number via Telnet to see if it is any different to Wolfy's version?

It may also be worth you posting your stats from xdslcmd info --stats and xdslcmd info --pbParams for us to examine for any subtle changes.

I have just checked & the GUI is still working here & this is the version number reported:-

xdslcmd --version
xdslcmd version 1.0
DSL PHY: AnnexA version - A2pv6C038m.d24j
******* Pass *********

I don't use the no btagent version as I do want to receive any remote updates to compare etc. so I'm a little annoyed that I didn't investigate anything when it happened to me.

It may be pure coincidence, but my connection reverted to fastpath on Wednesday when the connection resynced without my intervention.
There was no obvious cause for the resync showing in the ongoing stats that have continued to work throughout.

It should be a simple case of viewing the pb Params graphs in the viewer and stepping back through them to see if the version number changes. I've just gone back through mine to the end of April and there's no change I'm still on A2pv6C038m.d24j

I've never bothered updating the firmware to a version with the web user interface, so can't check that.

BE1, perhaps it would be an idea to compare the firmware version when a resync is detected and log if it's change in the resync log.

Thanks for replies.

Yes this is odd the version number is still the same, in ronski's Hg612_Stats GUI it's still showing as A2pv6C038m.d24j but the HG612 GUI has gone.

I use my tablet to access the HG612 GUI just to see SNRM's and sync speed when all PC's and TV/monitors are off, and did that last night but no access so I booted up the main PC and it's gone no access using 192.168.1.1

I do wonder if the BTAGENT has over written howlingwolfs firmware ?

EDIT: have uploaded the telnet info

It looks like i'll have to download bcm96368MVWG_fs_kernel_HG612V100R001C01B030SP06_unlockedgui-nobtagent and flash the HG612 again if I want to keep using the HG612 own GUI, I didn't think that the Agent would need to install the orginal BT firmware as it was using the up to date firmware version anyway.

I am still using Wolfy's firmware with BT Agent enabled to see if it happens again.

If it does, I'll make careful note of everything accordingly & feed back here.

I can't spot any differences, so maybe it was that Wofy's firmware was overwritten  ???

Guys

Suspect this is the firmware fix for the VPN issue highlighted by RevK here..

O.K.

Access to the HG612's GUI appears to have been disabled again this morning.

According to the logs from HG612 Modem Stats, the Retrain reason was 0, which usually indicates a modem reboot rather than an 'on the fly' resync.

I'll have a close look to see if anything has changed in the raw stats when I get home from work tonight.

In the meantime, does anyone know where I should start looking for clues within the various directories/files stored in the modem itself?

Funny you mention the GUI disappearing, mine was working earlier today (Monday), but this afternoon it's gone and I can no longer find it at the 192.168.1.1 address.

My version is A2pv6C038m.d24j

Definitely looks like some sort of remotely applied BT update then (possibly the VPN fix as mentioned by Fuggi) ???

Were you using the no-btagent version or the version that allows btagent?
