Setting up DSL stats for logging my FTTC connection.
« on: June 28, 2014, 09:45:57 PM »

Hi Guys,

I've got my HG612 setup so that I can connect to it with DSLStats from my server.

However, upon looking for the plethora of options, I am a bit confused about how to monitor and make graphs for showing how healthy my connection is.

I want to track mostly everything, but want to keep the graphs for around 3 weeks and then automatically delete them when they're done.

Can someone give me a setup guide on how to do that?

Configuration --> Login: Select HG612 from the drop-down list, then edit any items which differ from the default.
Configuration --> Graphs: Set the sample rate and the time per page that you want.
Configuration --> Items to Monitor: Tick everything if that's what you want.
Configuration --> Snapshots: Tick the items which you want to autosave. Tick "Delete snapshots older than" and set the value to 21 days or whatever you want. Choose whether you want the snapshots saved in daily folders or in category folders.

Sorry, I also wanted to ask something else.

Im a bit of a Linux noob, and wondered how I could launch DSLstats from terminal, with your config files? If I start the program by typing ./dslstats it starts up, but with no configuration in.

Thanks.

In Linux, DSLstats saves its configuration files in /home/<your username>/.dslstats/ and this is the same however the program is launched. If you launch it by navigating to the directory where the executable is saved, then typing ./dslstats , it should pick up any previously saved configuration.

*EDIT*

Nevermind, solved it :)
