Users being added to cabinet = less errors?
« on: July 25, 2014, 05:45:43 PM »

Hi Guys,

So we've had some more users added to our cabinet (neighbours, and I asked the guy who was working on the cabinet). As expected my upload and download speeds have dropped by a couple of Mb.

However, since this, my error counts have seriously reduced. Here are my stats.

Do we think these errors are low enough for DLM to start taking off interleaving/INP or not?

Why would adding more lines to the cabinet make me more stable error wise?

No idea. My guess, less bandwidth for errors to be generated ??  :)

I don't think it is worth attempting to "second guess" what the Openreach DLM will do. Convince yourself it will do "A" and it will eventually do everything else ("B to Z") other than "A"!  :D

Perhaps the installer (an Openreach technician from Black Sheep's flock) has tidied-up the jumper wiring, etc, in the PCP and as a consequence has reduced the coupling from a "disturber" into your own circuit?  :-\

Ha ha ........ never thought of that.  :graduate: ;D

Seriously, if your circuit was 'crimped' (Connected) together in the Cabinet on 3-way crimps, and had an Aluminium E or D-side, then the engineer is expected to replace these crimps for 2-way ones. They don't bite down as harshly as the 3-way ones.
If an engineer is working within the same 'bunch of 10' connections as your own, he could indeed have made your circuit better ?? Thing is, we'll never know ?  :)

<Disclaimer> Only very recently have new 3-way crimps been introduced into our 'Stores' that perform as well as the 2-way ones.

Cheers guys.

I shall keep everything crossed in the hope that DLM decides to be nice to me :)
