Tone 83
« on: June 01, 2014, 11:16:28 AM »

Does anyone have any more info on this tone as it causes no spike on my QLN at 358Khz, but at times i am able to see the snr per tone fluctuate between 10-30db? I have read somewhere 247 to 489 Khz is to guard AERONAUTICAL RADIONAVIGATION and
maritime radio beacons. Why would the line pick this up i live hundreds of miles away from Airports, although about 30 miles there is a shooting range? If that would have the similar transmitter? :-\

Radio Beacons are NOT located on airfields except for VHF short range approach beacons, so that doesn't signify.
Suggest considering possible modes of entry and clobbering them all is your best policy - who knows when your next door neighbors may get a plasma TV !

Ahh but out in the countryside houses around 400m away may still affect us but its more finding out where the AM interference and x talk is coming from + the low insulation and the hr, which it would seem that it would need to be inside as any kind of weather doesn't seem to affect it ??? :-\
