I would suggest finding the supervisor password as this may enable you to enable options such as "Reboot" on the normal Maintenance menu.  Instructions for doing this are in other threads.
Thanks machare - done!

Flashing the latest v.20 firmware, with an Eircom header, in effect unlocks the F1000. When the v.21 firmware is released, the F1000 should accept it. No need to open the router and do the unlock procedure.

Hi Dermot, thanks for all of your posts on the Eir F1000 (I've seen your posts here and on other forums).  If I upgrade my (now ancient) firmware on the F1000 to the latest v28 (your later post dated Jan 2019 here), will my F1000 be unlocked so that it will accept generic ZyXEL firmware releases in the future (without needing to modify the header) ?

Thanks, John

The software that check's if your fw is correct will be replaced with the new unlocked fw that allows you the use the normal fw from Zyxel.

This is not correct. Flashing the header-modified firmware DOES NOT unlock the Eir...come next firmware you will again need a header-modified firmware in order to flash into your Eir F1000...

Sorry for the brainfart.   :'(
How is this done ?
So for proper un-locking there is only 1 method, the serial cable ?

NP, indeed afaik that's the only way for the time being unless someone else comes up with an alternative

Thanks for your reply.
I gave it a try and I was able to flash the latest fw, as posted here :

I am running quite an old firmware (v15) if I want to update to a newer version is there any precautions I need to take to ensure I keep full functionality (do passwords change)?

The main reason I want to update is to get multiple telnet sessions working.  Does anyone know where the latest available version of this firmware is kept - it was created by someone on the forum iirc?

Thanks

Our user Johnson created a build for certain ZyXEL modems, very possibly the wrong models, where multiple telnet sessions are supported, but that was for modem-only mode usage.

Searching backwards through these threads might be a good start, but unfortunately there’s a lot of reading

Does anyone if there is a way to edit the port forwarding settings on the zyxel via bash? managed to get to the iptables stuff but couldn't find anything relating to nat/port forwarding. Curious  :)

I have a VMG8924 and a 8823 and I have not seen any new firmware since the beginning of this year.
Do you know why is this delay in the firmware release this time from Zyxel?

Version 28 (reply #867) for the 8924 was released in early Jan but I guess you can expect fewer updates since the device is getting on (launched 2014?) - unless of course a bug/flaw is identified in the firmware...

I have the v28 on my 8924. Does this mean that there is no bug on 8924  :)
Anyway first major firmware for the 8823 with the new gui was the beginning on new year as well and that firmware is pretty crap. There is no VPN at all quite a lot of features are missing. I would say that the 8924 is a more complete firmware. Since the 8823 is very new I was expecting more frequent firmware but nothing

I Have the 8924 B10A is there a method to resync vdsl2 from access to the web browser, I can go into the Network/Broadband/Advanced tab  and toggle one of the settings and then apply but it takes a few minutes to restore the vdsl2 connection.

       Thanks

Not from the Web interface there isn't.

Sending the command "adsl connection --up" over Telnet will initiate a resync though.
