There was also a "V100AAKL10C0_20150923.bin" version which I believe was a minor update.

Have you setup a VPN with the latest firmware?
I just setup a VPN with the pptp client and it seems there are problems.
The VMG does not hold the connection and it is rebooting constantly

I neither have a VMG8324-B10A nor have set up a VPN on my VMGnnnn device but I have a comment regarding your above statement.

Have you checked that the PSU is supplying the requisite voltage when it is under load? If the supplied voltage is low when the VMG8324-B10A is very active (say with a VPN configured) then that may be the cause of spontaneous device re-boots.

I have the original PSU.
As soon as I setup the pptp after few mins I lost the connection with router's web and generally the router was misbehaving
I was forced to upload the current configuration and to do a clean reboot (removing the power).

Reading the PDF file suggests they could be messing with the ability to access the supervisor password, mentions not allowing access by admin to MTD and randomizing the p/w on firmware update. So needs some testing. Other stuff looks good as they seem to be fixing some crashes and hangs etc.

Unchanged, by the looks of it.

I see that in the v19 PDF as a change for v18?

Looks like you read a bit too far down the changelog. Those changes were for v18, but I can understand looking for such changes with ZyXELs recent tightening of supervisor access.

Loaded this on to my 8924 and the Supervisor password remains the same. Dumpmdm still works also. Not currently connected to my line so can't compare performance unfortunately.

My 8924 connects to Vodafone FTTC with v19.

I have found that it takes nearly 2 and a half minutes for it to establish a VDSL Vodafone connection after, for example, powering on the DSL port. I don't think this is a v19 problem but I am curious as to why it takes so long. Previously I was using Plusnet ADSL and I did not notice this issue.

I've been having some odd issues with my 8924 recently and I'm putting it down to the v18 FW. Essentially, the first time the issue became apparent, I wasn't able to access websites (via WLAN or LAN) but the service connection was up and appeared fine fine. It appeared that using IP addresses would allow website access though. Windows update for example was behaving normally. I subsequently hard reset the device and re-input all the config manually. It seemed to rectify the issue until yesterday when I couldn't access certain websites but could others. IMDB for example was one I couldn't access. So I suspect the issue is with DNS?! I tried changing DNS servers but that did nothing. I'd not seen these issues before the v18 update but it could be just coincidental.

Regardless, I updated to v19 last night and will see how it behaves. Fortunately, I have a Billion 8800AXL to substitute if needs be.

One question I have, can the FW be downgraded 'easily'?

Well that was short lived! I've just logged into my server at home from work and once more, I can't access certain websites. Windows update has also stopped downloading an update at 56%.

So, back to my question above, is how 'easy' is i to downgrade the firmware on the 8924/ 8324? I'd like to go back to v16.

Paul

ETA: Just been back through this thread and I can see that our very own Kitz downgraded from a B4 version to a B1 version in post #71, so it seems it is very straight forward to downgrade the FW version.

Does anyone know how to save the adslctl --snr command so it can be preserved
after reboot?

My VMG8924-B10A does not have an adslctl command. It does have adsl and xdslctl.

If your router is loosing its configuration after a reboot I would suggest that you login as supervisor and then
use Maintenance\Configuration\Rom-D to clear Rom-D.  Whilst logged in as supervisor you can also make sure that all the options you want are shown on the administrator's menu.
