If so, then there is something in the configuration that is disabling the VLAN options. Whatever the cause, it makes the devices almost useless in my networks.
It seems there is a bug of this nature. I upgraded to the v18 firmware whilst maintaining the existing configuration and there was no "Network Setting" > "Vlan Group" sub-menu.

I reset the configuration and after the reboot both "Vlan Group" and "Power Management" sub-menu items are there.

However, after redoing the basic VDSL and WiFi configuration, setting WAN port eth4 to be 5th LAN port, and configuring it as VLAN 99 named "Management", the VLAN group name does NOT appear in the "Network Setting" > "Home Networking" > "LAN Setup" > "Group Name" drop-down menu box.

So this looks like another bug.

Can someone remind how we report these bugs directly to Zyxel; I can't find the emails concerning my previous reports just now.

You have to go on to their support site and register (if not already registered) and then submit a ticket, they will not accept emails.

Seems they've formalised their EU/UK support since I last talked to them; I'm registering now. I found the previous emails (from 2013) and see I was directly emailing the developers at that time - there was no external ticket system.

Using the latest v18 firmware could someone else attempt to configure VLANs and tell me if you can duplicate the failings I see?

Steps:

1. "Vlan Group" > "Add New VLAN Group", Name="Management", ID=99, Include=eth5, Tx Tagging=No
2. "Vlan Group" > "Add New VLAN Group", Name="Lab", ID=5, Include=eth1, Tx Tagging=No
3. "Home Networking" > "LAN Setup" see if the "Group Name" selection menu includes the new groups
4. "Home Networking" > "Additional Subnet" see if the "Group Name" selection menu includes the new groups
5. If you see the VLAN names listed, can you configure them with a subnet?

I've tried these steps and never see anything other than the "Default" group, even after a reboot.

Just wondering if anyone with either a 8324 or 8924 has been able to change the supervisor password from the default value? The 3925 actually prompts for a new password for supervisor the first time you login just like the admin login does, but so far I've not found out how to change it on the 8* series.

Login as supervisor. Click Login privilege. Ensure supervisor is selected. Type in new password. Click save

That's the issue with my 8924 there is no save button only close. My 3925 is different and allows p/w change from the web interface. I guess for the 8* series I may need to do it via a command in telnet.

I've just checked this on my 8324 using the old 6b1 firmware, and it's the same as Stuart says - I can enter a new password in the box, but the change isn't saved after the dialog is closed.

I have v16 on the 8924 at present and the save button appears briefly in both Chromium and Chrome (on Linux) but then disappears and I'm left with the same situation as I had before. I wonder if it is V16, I might try later with V15.

Stuart,

I've had exactly the same issue on my 8924 on both V15 and V16.
I managed to 'wake up' the save button using the 'webstyle' command in the cli (logged in as supervisor).
If memory serves me I issued 'webstyle Brick' followed by 'save' in the cli and then the buttons were back in the GUI.
What is odd is that once the buttons have returned I can set webstyle as any of the options (Brick, Original, Brick_ODM) and the buttons remain.
Perhaps this was just a strange fluke but it's worth a go.

V1.00(AAKL.19) is to be released on August 16th. Not sure if it'll contain a fix for the VLAN subnet group issue though.

Regarding the supervisor password from V18 onwards, I have had a flat refusal to provide it as they say it is for ZyXEL developers only. I am going to try to argue that since I own the router and do not want to allow anyone access that I do not have full control over. This effectively allows ZyXEL access to your router without you having control if you are foolish enough to open the WAN side.

Some how in all this my supervisor p/w got messed up. Anyway having reloaded V16 and tried the webstyle thing it does not fix it. Will play some more now I have the MDM dumped and gotten my supervisor p/w again which was seemingly random 8 characters.

So soon after v18? Must be a security fix.
