Up and running on v6b1...  Google DNS servers... Basic configuration from scratch...  One reboot of the router a few mins ago but I'm wondering if Chromecast might have caused that as I was playing with at the time the internet went down - it was a complete router reboot rather than loss of sync or other type of issues I'd previously been getting...

I'm assuming that IGMP Proxy is disabled as per Kitz setup guide page?
I haven't had any unexpected reboots on 6b1 (yet) but not running Chromecast so not much help I'm afraid sorry

What's the consensus on the most stable firmware for VDSL? I had been running V100AAKL7C0 on my ADSL service with good effect but I've having some issues since switching to VDSL. OR are working on some solutions but I just wanted to try and optimise things from my end as well

My VMG8924 rebooted again. Is there something in the logging I can enable to pinpoint the cause?

I sometimes see the CPU usage spike to 75%. Is there a command I can run which shows what exactly is taking up the CPU? I think it reboots under high load.

I gave up today with firmware 6b1. The reboots and drops affected my line so this afternoon , when the family were out, I installed the HG612 I'd got a few weeks earlier. I'd already unlocked it so it was ready to go.

I've connected LAN1 to the WAN port on the VMG8924 (still on 6b1) and seemed to have configured it ok (I'm typing this aren't I!!)   :D :D  What I'd like to know is does someone have a config guide as to setting the basics up on the VMG8924 in this configuration ? There are lots of options and who knows if I've missed something..  Any help would be appreciated.

The WAN IP part under NAT port forwarding seems really flaky across all firmwares, one minute it works correctly and restricts incoming requests to WAN IP, the next it blocks incoming until you remove the WAN IP.

Anyone else find this?

So ZyXel support have gone very very quiet on my open ticket with them regarding the excessive FEC errors on 1.00(AAKL.13)C0 & 1.00(AAKL.14)C0
Dabbled with 1.00(AAKL.7)C0 briefly - and this seemed to sort the FEC error reporting - but it also led to log-in issues with MDWS which I also get on AAKL.13 & AAKL.14 from time to time so I've gone back to 1.00(AAKL.6)b1
No ridiculous FEC counts, no Telnet issues and sync is fine at 60/20 - the GUI is a bit sluggish but my topology is pretty simple so not going to tax the box..
Fingers crossed ZyXel fix this in a later release - I won't hold my breath as it only seems to affect a handful of us.

Cheers
Sam

After waiting patiently for a response on my open ticket with ZyXel they've published a new firmware image V100AAKL15C0 for me to try..
Release notes are too large to attach - which show a lot of changes through the v15 betas that I wasn't even aware existed, so I've copy/pasted all the changes from the PDF below
Not suggesting that everyone jumps to this release if things are stable for them right now but I'll be trying it later and can make available for anyone interested after reading the release notes..

Cheers
Sam

This is the link ZyXel support gave me:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/06yyvoxkhsubdhi/V100AAKL15C0.rar?dl=0

Just checked on the UK FTP site and it shows up in the 8324 folder but not the 8924 - gotta love ZyXel:

ftp://ftp.zyxel.co.uk/VMG8324-B10A/firmware/

Cheers

Doesn't the C0 mean it's the final version of that version number? If you look in the change log you get lots of B (Beta?) versions then followed by a single C0 version.

I've downloaded and saved it for when I get some time to update.

That's how I understood it too..

Nothing major I've noticed since installing this morning, FEC count seems to be more realistic, haven't had any "Can't log-in to modem/router" nags from DSLStats (yet) and haven't had any unexplained reboots or resyncs but it's too early to draw any conclusions.
Lost some of my US sync but not sure if that's down to my line conditions at the time it resynced after applying the new image or the new modem firmware in use - or both.
No dealbreakers for me yet but keeping a close eye on things

Cheers

I thought it did - I did the upgrade remotely as well from 6b1 > 15C0 and I was still able to connect in post reload so WAN config was retained as well as device customization (name/icon) and static IP allocations
On closer inspection tonight after getting home I can see that some things had been reset to default - DHCP lease time, DoS protection disabled etc, so probably worth walking through your config afterwards to make sure all present and correct.

Seems I spoke too soon on the "Unable to login to modem/router" issue with DSLstats - no sooner than I hit Post was kicked off and unable to resume recording since..  >:(
