5Ghz is a minefield, I have a Edimax Pro WAP1750, but it only allows me to use band A, there's been talk of a firmware to allow band B which is legal in the UK, but it's not be released yet.

Hi

...and ZyXel have been known on this model to have firmware with the exact same version number, but different depending on where you download it.  I started out with version 7 that just constantly crashed due to a memory problem and then found another version 7 that contained the fix (same size/different hash).

It's actually not a good sign of quality they do this, the whole reason for version numbers is stop exactly this sort of confusion.  Officially we are still on version 1.00 but 14c0, perhaps they think it looks like they have more reliable firmware as it doesn't need updating from version 1.00 and they get it right from day one, if only :D

Regards

Phil

Still have the V7 fw without the memory leak?
The modem fw from V8 onwards gives me millions of FEC per minute causing content resyncs and DLM intervention so id like to try this magic V7 of you have it.

Hi

No don't have that file any more, however it should be this one here ftp://ftp2.zyxel.com/VMG8924-B10A/firmware/  called VMG8924-B10A_1.00(AAKL.7)C0

Having now used the 8324 in bridge mode for a little while it has performed the best out of the various modems I have tried on my eci cab. It has synced the highest out performing my previous 8800nl and even though I currently get about 400-600es DS per 24 hours on fast path with no g.inp this is still an improvement on the other modems I have tried. If only g.inp came back I could compare it with the others post g.inp...
Been running v14 since zyxel released it.

Mine seemed to run well with G.INP.  Aside from the weird FEC spikes regular as clockwork at about the same time each day (which happened regardless of hardware) then the error rate was practically nil.   That said, this line is usually pretty stable so testing it on a more noisy line would give it a run for its money.

Then again I appear to be getting more E/S since G.INP was turned off than I was ever doing before it was enabled.

Well I hope to eventually as I do have some issues with noise so it would be a good test.

For me, firmware v14 doesn't work with multicast TV. I've reported this to Zyxel support and am waiting a reply, I'll report back when I get a answer.

Update:
It's a week since I first reported this issue to Zyxel support, I've just chased it up and got the reply.
"this case has been escalated to our headquarters"

Update2:
Still no sensible reply from Xyxel support but I have discovered the following telnet command restores multicast TV to my youview box when using firmware (14C0).

Quote
interfaceGroup delete group_name ConcurrentWAN

This command is not required with other firmware versions.

I'm seeing issues with adding static IPs to devices too. When I add them, the interface states that they'll still DHCP and the lease timer ticks down eventually getting to 0 after the set period (1 day currently). Not sure if this actually affects the device's connectivity though. More investigation needed.

I currently have to run version 7 for the same reason as you, the FEC count is truly into the millions but only after 1 hour ?
Is anyone else having the same problem?
Mine is under 1 month old as it was replaced under warranty in May this year.

no dlm resyncs for me on v14, have been on it since release and was using the possible non official version without any issues. All I get is between 400-600es ds per 24 hours on fast path. I see no other issues at the moment and my line is currently synced at the highest its ever been since the loss of g.inp on my eci cab.

uptime 18 days since it synced at the best I have managed to get out of the line when I saw a high snrm level so invoked a re-sync which resulted in 2mb gain on the ds which is now at 65mb

I'm after some help if possible.

I've given a device a static IP address. The device was faulty so it's been replaced by an identical device which I have given the same static IP address. The Zyxel seems to have an issue releasing the associated MAC address of the old device from that IP address. Is there anyway I can force it to drop that association?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Overall what firmware would be considered the most stable say from v7 to v14 I am currently on v14 and it seems to be ok so far.

Well I have been running V14 for a couple of weeks no and all seems OK, but then I've not had any issues with V13 either. I made sure I installed the version of the official site and not the Dutch one were it was first released.

Have you tried?

Go to Network Settings > Home Networking > Static DHCP

Identify the old device from the list show, click the little dustbin to delete from list.
