All ok also for me with 8C0, no reboot at all.
Are you connected via ADSL (green LED) with a maximum of 50mbit/s upstream (or lower) or connected via VDSL2 (yellow LED) with up to 100mbit/s?

I have a 20/1 (DL/UL) Mbps ADSL connection but i am in italy (ISP Telecomitalia)

Thanks for the info. ADSL users don't seem to have problems with the 8C0 firmware, whereas VDSL2 users seem to be the ones who are getting the resyncs, CRC errors and disconnects

BTW, does anybody know if it's possible to log onto the VMG8324..

You can telnet using admin and your full password or

Try this:

ssh -v admin@192.168.1.1

Enter only the first eight characters of your admin password.

Bizarre.

Great! The zip finally contains the updated changelog which includes the changelog for the unreleased 9C0 releases as well. It confirms that for 8C0 the modem and xDSL drivers were updated, but I haven't seen any modifications to these in the changelog leading up to 10C0 since then. So it'll be interesting to see whether the reliability for VDSL2/vectoring connections has improved since the unreliable 8C0 release...

The xdsl driver is the same present in 8C0....

I modified the 10C0 firmware to allow it to be flashed onto the Eircom F1000 from the web interface.
The unmodified firmware can only be loaded through the serial port.

After flashing, the default username/password will be admin/1234. The wifi name and password will
also be changed, so you will need an ethernet cable to access the router.

Hi broadstairs, Ayosi and clonc and everyone else here  ;D,

New to the forum but I have been tracking this thread for a good few months. Just thought I'd leave a big thank you down for all your links, mirrors, modifications and all that good stuff regarding 10C0. I hope you don't mind, I felt I should let the guys over on boards.ie (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057302483) know what's new regarding this firmware, especially for those less versed in the serial port method.

Hi Kevin and welcome to the forum.

Thank you for that link and your kind words.
I note that Dermott started that thread.   He also contributes a lot over here and is the probably best in the know when it comes to first unlocking the EircomF1000 to make it behave like a 'normal' VMG8324.   Ayosi's work on a modified f/wnow makes things a lot easier, so along with everyone else* who has contributed, then theres a good team of guys on the ball with this.

No problem, I apologize if I left anyone out who contributed! :-[ Great to have so many willing to work on it. Just got my finals in a computer science course, but I'm not going to deny the fact I wouldn't be as capable on Linux as I would be on Windows, especially in the area of networking so having a helping hand like Dermott, some of the other lads over on boards and this forum was a great help. I'm sure there are people who would like to take advantage of these new firmware features and bug fixes that wouldn't be as tech savvy over on Boards hence the post there (some were saying it was "Waàaay out of my league").

Hello All

New to this forum.

Had some good results with this modem but later firmwares seem to have degraded speed and stability.

Quick question to start, does downgrading firmware through web GUI do an absolutely clean install.

I suspect since taking my firmware up to version 10 then rolling back to version7 that it still has the new modem code?

The only reason I say this as I never used to see CRC or ES on version 7.

Now see them?

Hi

It should also roll back the ADSL/VDSL drivers.  You can check this be telnet'ing in to ZyXEL and then type
Code: [Select]
xdslctl --version
Then pop back with the version number, I know 10C is A2pv6F039o1.d26a

Regards

It would appear to do so, as downgrading forgets any config changes so make sure you have a record of these if you downgrade.

Thanks all for feedback

Version reported A2pv6F039id.24e so must have rolled back.

Not sure why line has become unstable now.
