Sudden Loss of Speed
« on: May 05, 2014, 04:04:47 PM »

I am new so please take it easy on me, after a year of very stable performance my Infinity 2 my connection has taken a sudden turn for the worse.

Basically up until a few weeks my line was working really well, BT's logs also confirm full 80/20 performance with very few line drops.

On 25th April 2014 I noticed that my speed which was normally 76Mpbs + was 17Mbps :-). I called BT they said that could see the frequent line drops from 22nd April 2014.

I had actually performed a speed test on the 21st April 2014 which returned a result of 76Mpbs.

An engineer was sent out on the 29th April 2014 apparently there were "2 lines connected to my d port at the cabinet", the second line was removed however the service is still not performing at the levels is was.

Below are the line stats as reported by the BT Home Hub 5.

6. Data rate: 19998 / 64870
7. Maximum data rate: 25540 / 76566
8. Noise margin: 5.8 / 6.3
9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 15.0
10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 15.0
11. Data sent/received: 66.0 MB / 162.2 MB

When the service was first installed the recorded maximum data rate was 38/132.

Given the stats above would one expect such a big difference between the Data Rate and the Maximum Data Rate.

Many Thanks for any help received.

Assuming you have a fault-free MPF .......... then a years worth of additional EU's migrating to FTTC on your Cabinet would certainly play a massive part in your loss of speed (Crosstalk).
