verify which cab a line is connected to?
« on: May 10, 2014, 08:58:13 AM »

Is it possible to check which cab a line is connected to, perhaps by dialling an engineer code from my line?
The PCP checker indicates I have an equal chance c 30% of being connected to One of three cabs. One of the three cabs is not planned for service provision; and with the 'history' of my installs, you know when you have a certain feeling....?
I do actually have three lines into my house, from mostly different isps, so there may be a chance one is on a decent cab.

Rather than the PCP checker, have you tried the BT Wholesale FTTC checker.  If you use your phone number it should tell you at the top which cab you are connected to.

Thanks, but none of the lines are now provided by BT.

If you try your address in that checker it may give you more info, although the 3 lines may confuse it.

Since BlackSheep has kindly offered, I can confirm that he is bona fide to pass your details to.

Cheers - info sent to  Blacksheep.
The various checkers report conflicting info - most definitive saying the postcode is definitely Cab 18 (i.e the one not being upgraded!) but PCP saying its one of three.
When OpenReach installed the lines over the last 3 years, they commented on the difficulties of one cab, but managed to get one line in by bridging to another cab, so who knows!
