Recently moved over to SKY and needed the MER option but i was running the latest so a pain to downgrade.
So contacted TP-link and they sent me a beta TD-W9980v1_0.6.0_1.13_up_boot(160321)_2016-03-21_10.04.27.bin which i presume is just the latest with added MER.
Havn't had chance to test it yet tho.

The only one with MER is an older firmware so I'd be surprised if what they sent you is the correct one, and trouble is it lacks the later firmwares G.INP compatibility.

Having said that the latest firmware available on the tplink website for the w9980 is from 2015, so it would be interesting to see what they've sent you. Any chance you could share it, via pm etc?

Went through this with tplink last year. From what I was told the beta version was not the latest and supposedly they were not going to implement MER support in further versions. Seemed pointless using it due to no further support, of course they may have changed this view but  this is what they sent me at the time.

Firmware Version:0.6.0 1.10 v0021.0 Build 150413 Rel.32590n
Hardware Version:TD-W9980 v1 00000000

This firmware has VDSL_Sky(MER) in the pull down menu.

Certainly looks promising. If it has G.INP enabled also it would be just the firmware I need!  Anyone know how we can check for G.INP, does the w9980 have telnet etc?

TP-Link beta firmwares usually have the sh telnet command enabled to get to a shell. Then you can use the commands:

/firmware/dsl_cpe_pipe.sh lfcg 0
/firmware/dsl_cpe_pipe.sh lfcg 1
/firmware/dsl_cpe_pipe.sh lfsg 0
/firmware/dsl_cpe_pipe.sh lfsg 1

0 = upstream and 1 = downstream for those commands. lfcg = LineFeatureConfigGet which shows what's enabled on the TP-Link itself, lfsg = LineFeatureStatusGet which shows what's in use, subject to cabinet capability and the DLM enabling retransmission for your line.

TP-Link release firmwares don't give shell access, although there is a way around that.

... beta TD-W9980v1_0.6.0_1.13_up_boot(160321)_2016-03-21_10.04.27.bin ...
Hello everybody. I'm really sorry to bring this topic up after three years since the last post, but does anyone still have this firmware file, and if so would you be willing to send it to me? (Obviously the TinyUpload URL expired years ago.)

Thanks and sorry again.

I have nowhere to put it I'm afraid, do you have somewhere I can upload it to?
