« on: April 28, 2014, 06:50:08 PM »

Can someone knowledgeable please have a look at my stats and tell me if they are OK or potentially risky.

Cheers

compared to the stats I had on a 50dBish line, they're great.

Your line has a fraction of the attenuation this one has, of course it's going to have better stats. You're not comparing like with like.

Even with your stats Konrado5 you could enjoy many battles on World of War Planes as long as your PC setup has reasonable specs, beware it's very addictive  :-[

and it may take you a 6 - 7 hours to download as it's 6GB  :o

Thanks all for replies. So are the stats `normal` as such? Errors etc not too bad?

The errors look fairly low for a 52dB Downstream line attenuation, you have some spare SNRM of 2.8 dB but I would say your line may not cope well if set to 6.0dB SNRM profile the DLM will be force to increase it as is why your currently on a 9db profile I guess.

Hi kamil

For a line with 52dB attenuation, your sync speed is very good.   It looks like interleaving is switched off which is unusual for a line of your length, but it seems to be coping ok.  Theres a few CRCs which Im not too concerned about.  However I'm a bit unsure if your SES's and ES and UAS may trigger the DLM to switch on interleaving at some point.

May be an idea to grab a copy of erics DSLstats and see how much your SNRm moves by over the course of the day.  As NewtronStar has already stated, you may be on a 9dB Target SNRm, but I would have expected the DLM to switch interleaving on first.

All in all though, decent stats for a long line. :)

I have requested for interleaving to be switched off as ping is important for my gaming etc.

However I'm a bit unsure if your SES's and ES and UAS may trigger the DLM to switch on interleaving at some point.

I believe that the 9db target was set by my ISP directly (no DLM to worry about) :)

I have been using routerstats recently and my SNRm is within 1db max if not less. The upstream fluctuates a lot more and sometimes dips by several dB only to recover next moment.

All in all though, decent stats for a long line. :)

I was unsure about CRC, ES, SES hence I asked the question. I thought I might be loosing trough put potentially due to ES but my next step would be 12dB and this brings sync of around 4300kbps and actual speed of around 3700. I have now decent speed (http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/button/139855284467485652525.png) and seems like it should be ok long term?

Thanks again for all your advise :)

Ah, I spot a fellow member who also has TalkTalk as ISP/CP.  :)

Just in case you are unaware of it, here is the list of the standard TT profiles.

If you wish, you could request that TalkTalk disable DLM on your line, so you can tweak without fear of being "punished".
