Inherited BT bits, any of it useful?
« on: April 23, 2014, 05:37:31 PM »

My retired neighbour, as a result of the property legacy of a small business he used to run, has a couple of flats he rents out.
One has recently been vacated (tenants returned abroad) and is being refurbished.
They left behind a collection of BT kit, all stored in a drawer and complete with all PSU's and cables:

Homehub 2 type A and matching hub phone type 2.1A.

ECI B-Focus V-2FUb/r rev.B (fibre VDSL modem presumably)
Homehub 3

BT Youview unit DTR-T1000/GB/500G/BT

He doesn't want any of this, is it likely to be of any use to me on a PlusNet ADSL2+ connection running at about 20mbps?

PS I know what Youview is, indeed I have an old/original (free) Youview box as I was one of the original triallists.
But is the BT box any use other than with a BT FTTC connection?

I would recommend accepting the above two items. Even if you do not make use of them yourself, I am sure other kitizens would welcome the forwarding and receipt of the same . . .

Presuming the youview box is OK they go for around £70 on ebay so he could always sell it.

Thanks for the advice, I've accepted the lot.

Youview box works OK, albeit no BT/internet channels (as expected), but my daughter might find it useful when she moves into a flat in the next few weeks.

The FTTC modem and HH3 I'll hang on to for now; might even be useful spares for a customer.

The HH2 and associated phone seem to have negligible value or utility, unless someone can advise me otherwise? "Recycle"  ?

Via a local charity shop, perhaps? Somebody, somewhere, will probably have a use for them.  :-\

Yes I saw that thread, it reinforced my opinion.  :-X

Maybe I should just bin it to save anyone wasting their time.
