DSLstats - SNRm per band
« on: April 13, 2014, 12:09:29 AM »

My current SNRm per band is looking rather bland..  and I wanted to look back at previous graphs because it hasnt always been like this, and more so because Im trying to monitor just how stable the line is when on the ZyXel

However, Ive just discovered that none of my SNRm per band graphs have been logged in dslstats.  Since being on vdsl I normally find the per band graphs much more informative than the combined totals.
Have I missed a setting some where..  and if so can you kindly point me in the right direction.

thanks.

Unfortunately due to the PC issues and HDs & formatting I dont have many HG612 stats to compare with either.

Nvm...  sorry Ive found it.

I shall have to book a visit to spec-savers...  and kick myself hard for not having ever saved any graphs  :(

oops indeed.   I cant find a single SNRm per band graph logged in dslstats.    I guess I must have missed ticking the box when it came out as a new feature.

I cant believe that I must have stared at that page several times looking for the tickbox..   yet its right there..   I guess Im tired and I shall take that as a cue to head to bed.

g'nite all :)

Do I understand that SNRM per band is now plotting correctly? :)

Yes thank you - well as far as dslstats goes and is now graphing fine to the saved files

I may occasionally see a blip of red, but with both bands atm being the same SNRm theres not much else to show.
Im just very surprised at just how flat those lines are, but thinking back I think it used to be D1 which fluctuated the most...
....which is why I was looking for an older graph to compare with, and a bit surprised when I couldnt find one.

Im not convinved if the Zyxel is reporting the SNRm bands correctly though as D1 is showing N/A in pbParams.

Well Kitz your line looks good from my office style Armchair and a flat line in any stats is good news  ;)

But your D1 is greyed out if you look back at the SNRM per Band/Downstream  ???

Any band shown as N/A in pbParams is greyed out in DSLstats.

@ NS - yep which is why I was looking into it further and mentioned the N/A thinking it may be a problem with the Zyxel.

However this is the output of pbParams via telnet

Any band shown as N/A in pbParams is greyed out in DSLstats.

My D1 & D2 band is not greyed out because I am able to use those bands, and band 3 for me is greyed out because I can't use it, so why is Kitz Band D1 greyed out ?

That looks like a bug. The DSLstats version of pbParams is merely reformatted for readability, but it seems to have messed up the SNR line. I'll take a look at it.

I think it may perhaps be related to this

Quote
The band detection logic was confused by an unusual value in the SNR margin section of your pbParams output - the U0 value is shown as 'NR' (what does that mean?). The result was that it believed that band U0 wasn't being used.

Via telnet there isnt any 'NR' so I think its possibly something DSLstats is picking up and its shifting all the SNRm bands one to the right - upstream and down.  ie what is actually U0 is being reported as U1 etc

Yes, that's what it is. It's failing to parse that line correctly for some reason. I'll find it.

And if you want to see a problematic Line with SNRM issues look no further, again it's one hour before the sun sets and you can see the gremlins starting to come to life  >:(

Thank you eric.

I dont know if it helps but it possibly uses spaces rather than tabs between the figures displayed.
