When I began courting my wife about 40+ years back, she used to sup Gold Label Barley Wine.
She always said that . . . .

After one, she couldn't feel it!

After two, she could feel it!

After three, anybody could feel it!

From personal experience during my thiry five years living and working in England's smallest county.............Ruddles County Ale, brewed by the Ruddles family in Oakham.

And very nice that "County Bitter" was too.Another one was Davenports "Drum Bitter" but one of my personal favourites was Mitchell and Butlers mild! Not very strong, but very smooth!

Not yester-year, just yester-Thursday, an away match gave me the opportunity to try a couple of beers from the Nelson Brewing Company http://www.nelsonbrewingcompany.co.uk/ which was a new one on me despite them being local (well, Kent!)

Tried Spanker (4.2%) and Trafalgar (4.1%); I want to describe both as a bit thin but that's not a word I'd usually associate with beer  :D  the Trafalgar was definitely the better of the two, the Spanker left a bit of an aftertaste.
