VOIP and adsl interleave
« on: September 09, 2006, 07:38:59 PM »

Can VOIP work well with adsl interleave set to ON as usually seems to be set with MAX adsl?

TBH Im not 100% sure of the answer on this one.

Logic would tell me that there would be no problem..  because interleaving helps increase the stability of your line, and therefore make VoIP better rather than worse?

Even with interleaving on... the increase is in the region of an additional 20ms, which should still be low enough not to affect VoIP.

Tell you what.. I'll try it! I've got interleaving on.

Just tried it, and it works perfectly for me (using Sipgate) - zero dropouts, but I suppose as you'd hope to expect this time of night too!

Like Kitz says, the stability of the line is actually better, because it essentially increases the error correction capacity of the line, therefore fewer lost packets obviously means a better VoIP experience.
