ECI B-FOCus V-2FUb/I versus Huawei HG612
« on: February 28, 2014, 01:39:54 PM »

I am told that the ECI B-FOCus V-2FUb/I model does not have the UDP port blocking
feature making VPN connections impossible

but the newer Openreach Huawei HG612 models do have UDP ports blacklisted

would anyone know if the HG612 unlocked blobs from Howlingwolf remove the UDP port blocking ?

I have both modems and have no issues in establishing VPN connections using either modem.

The ECI's (presuming r & I )  don't have the UDP from the issue  according to RevK of aaisp.

It's using the latest unlocked firmware with BT Agent disabled, but GUI enabled.

thank you, it looks like A&A confirm that the bug is with Openreach firmware only

Quote  "We have confirmed that modems re-flashed with non-BT firmware do not have the same problem,
though we don't usually recommend doing this as it is a BT modem and part of the service"

it looks like some of my clients will also need to ask BT to swap over their crippled HG612 modems
for ECI according to Adrian at A&A, and a post on the 15th Jan 2014

Quote     "BT are testing a fix in the lab and will deploy in due course, but this could take months.
However, if any customers are adversely affected by this bug, please let us know and we can arrange
for BT to send a replacement ECI modem instead of the Huawei modem"

absolutely shocking that BT allow automatic updates like this without telling end users, amazing !

I think it would be an epic battle trying to get BT's Helpdesk to understand the issue at all, so good luck to anyone trying to get a replacement modem!
